A MATTER OF CHOICE
Romans 6:12-13
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
To obey or to disobey is a choice. When we rebel and disobey God it is because we choose to do so. It is not because “the devil made me do it” as Flip Wilson use to say. We give the devil credit where credit is not due. No one can make you disobey God.
When you rebel and fail to walk in the obedience to God’s Word, it is not because you do not have power over sin, or because you have no control over your actions. No, it is because you yield your will to disobey.
Adam and Eve had a choice in the Garden of Eden to obey God’s command not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and enjoy the blessings that were theirs in the garden of Eden. Or to disobey God, forfeiting their blessings and die. Satan had absolutely no power over them to make them disobey. To obey or disobey is a matter of choice.
Let’s Pray.
Father God, we are so thankful for Your grace and mercy. You have given us the opportunity to choose. Prayerfully we will make the right choices and always follow You. We pray for our nation and leaders to make right choices. Help us consider one another in the decisions we make. Be thou glorified in our lives Lord. Move by Your Spirit within us as we walk in obedience of Your Word. We submit to Your will Lord. Have Your way. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Be Blessed Because You are Blessed,
Pastor Donald and Sister Hyon Brown
