HELP IS AN ACTION AWAY 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. Matthew 14:28-30
In the text, Peter sees Jesus walking on the water. He says, if it is You Lord, bid me to come to You on the water. Jesus said, come. Peter got out of the ship and was walking on the water towards Jesus. He was focused on Jesus. But then he saw the winds becoming boisterous and he began to sink. He had taken his eyes off Jesus; he was focused on the circumstances at hand. The essence of this lesson is to keep our eyes focused on Jesus. When we get distracted by things around us (storms of life), fear can set in, and we soon find ourselves in a compromising position. However, if we remain focused on God, we will see we have all we need to survive. Peter could have sunk were it not for him taking swift action in putting his focus back on Jesus. He realized he needed help and called out to Jesus saying, save me. Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. Peter had enough sense to know Jesus could save him. When we call out to Him in faith, He hears us and responds. Help is an action away in the person of Jesus. The psalmist says He is a very present help in the time of trouble. Call out His name. Jesus! Help is an action away.
Let’s Pray. Father God, we come before You this day seeking Your face. We need Your help, and we need Your strength to make it day to day. We come to You in prayer with the expectation You will respond. We have faith that You will move in our midst because we believe in You. Although sin is causing many people to sink; You can save them if they would only believe in you. We pray they will recognize You are the way, the truth, and the life. None can get to the Father but by You. We call out to You Lord. Have Your way, we pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. Be Blessed Because You are Blessed, Pastor Donald and Sister Hyon Brown
