GOD IS FAITHFUL

22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, Because his compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23

Thank God that we are not consumed (destroyed), for His mercies are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness Lord unto us. While we are not always faithful we can count on our God to be faithful. The prophet Jeremiah suffers abuse and is rejected for his warnings of coming judgement upon a proud Jerusalem through its rebellion and grievous sins against God. The Lord’s anger was kindled against them. God uses their enemy Babylon to destroy the city as an instrument of judgment.

In the midst of despair and misery the prophet reflects on the faithfulness, love, and compassionate God of Israel. He prays for mercy and asks God to deliver His people and avenge their misery. Before restoration could take place however, there had to be repentance of the sin. After that, restoration could begin. This is where we see the faithfulness of our God. Jeremiah finds hope and comfort in the God he knows and loves for Jerusalem. Our God is faithful, let us be faithful to Him.

Let’s Pray. Father God, we thank You for Your mercies. Thank You they are new every morning. You are faithful Lord. Help us to be faithful to You. Just as You delivered Israel when their punishment was complete and they repented, You will deliver us. Thank You Lord for the forgiveness of sins, though our sins be as scarlet, You wash us whiter than snow. Thank You for Your faithfulness even when we are sometimes cast down, but not destroyed. Thank You for keeping us Lord. Use our lives Lord to bring You glory and honor. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. Be Blessed Because You are Blessed,

Pastor Donald and Sister Hyon Brown
